KUALA LUMPUR, 3 March 2025 – The Malaysian Aviation Commission (MAVCOM) is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Wee Hock Kee as its newest Member of the Commission, effective 13 February 2025.
Mr. Wee’s appointment was made by the Minister of Transport upon consultation with the Prime Minister, in accordance with Section 5(1)(c) of the Malaysian Aviation Commission Act 2015 [Act 771].
With a distinguished career spanning multinational corporations, Mr. Wee has held leadership roles in internal audit, risk management and governance. He is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) (United Kingdom). Mr. Wee previously served as Regional Audit Director for Asia Pacific, the Middle East, and Africa at AstraZeneca PLC (United Kingdom). He is currently a Faculty Member and Fellow of the Institute of Corporate Directors Malaysia (ICDM) and a member of the Singapore Institute of Directors (SID). Additionally, he is the Chairman of the Governance, Ethics, Assurance, and Risk Committee of Social Security Organisation (PERKESO).
Mr. Wee has made significant contributions to the internal audit profession, having been the past President of the Institute of Internal Auditors Malaysia (IIAM) and the Asian Confederation of Institute of Internal Auditors (ACIIA). He has also served as a board member of IIA Global, a member of the ACCA Malaysia Advisory Council, and Chairman of the Internal Audit Working Group at the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA).
Beyond his professional affiliations, Mr. Wee has held board positions in multiple public-listed companies across Malaysia, Singapore, and the United Kingdom, where he has chaired Audit, Risk Management and Nomination and Remuneration Board Committees. His prior involvement with MAVCOM includes serving as a Committee Member of the Licensing and Air Traffic Rights Committee.

Another notable change is the conclusion of Datuk Seri Long See Wool’s tenure as a Member of the Commission. His term, which began with the inception of MAVCOM, ended on 28 February 2025.
