KUALA LUMPUR, 13 June 2025 – The Malaysian Aviation Commission (MAVCOM) urges consumers affected by the cessation of operations of Jetstar Asia Airways (Jetstar Asia) to take prompt action and seek assistance from the airline directly. Consumers may also contact MAVCOM’s available channels for any assistance.
This advisory follows Jetstar Group’s announcement on 11 June 2025 regarding the managed cessation of operations of its low-cost Singapore-based subsidiary, Jetstar Asia. The airline will cease operations effective 31 July 2025.
Consumers who have made bookings with Jetstar Asia (3K) are advised to contact the airline through its dedicated Live Chat service at www.jetstar.com or refer to their list of global contact centres at https://www.jetstar.com/sg/en/help/contact-numbers for additional information and assistance regarding their bookings.
According to Jetstar, the cessation of operations does not affect any Jetstar Airways (JQ) flights, including international flights between Australia and Southeast Asia, nor any Jetstar Japan (GK) flights. The only flights affected in Malaysia are those operated by Jetstar Asia from Singapore, specifically the services to Kuala Lumpur and Penang.
Jetstar has announced that it will directly notify customers if there are changes to scheduled flights before 31 July 2025. This is due to a planned progressive reduction in its flight schedule, leading to the cessation of services. Consumers are strongly advised to monitor their e-mail and booking status accordingly, as well as check the travel alerts section on the Jetstar website regularly for the latest updates.
In line with the Malaysian Aviation Consumer Protection Code 2016 (MACPC), consumers affected by the cessation of operations are entitled to the following options:
- A refund of the full cost of the ticket (inclusive of taxes and fees) in the original mode of payment within 30 days; or
- Rerouting to the final destination on comparable transportation.
If affected consumers do not receive these options or require further assistance, they are encouraged to contact MAVCOM via the following official channels:
- Consumer hotline: +1800-18-6966 (Within Malaysia) or +603-7651 2777 (Outside Malaysia)
- E-mail at consumer@mavcom.my
- FlySmart complaint webform: https://flysmart.my/make-a-complaint/
- FlySmart mobile application available for download from the Google Play store and Apple App Store for Android and iOS users, respectively.
MAVCOM remains committed to safeguarding the rights of air travel consumers and will continue to provide necessary assistance to those impacted by the cessation of Jetstar Asia’s services.
