Aviation Security Division (AVSEC Division) was established in the year 2002 as one of the key regulatory roles for ensuring the compliance of aviation security measures as per International and National standards to protect civil aviation from acts of unlawful interference. AVSEC Division is committed to manage security quality control tasks at all aviation security stakeholders at airports through security programs and enact the relevant compliance to ICAO Annexes and its documents and also national regulations.
The AVSEC Division is also designated to manage the coordination of the training in the field of aviation security with ICAO and other training institutes for training and certifications. The Division also evaluates security infrastructure and equipment at airports; in addition, it is responsible for documentation of all facts and events related to the security issues for preventive and corrective actions.
The Aviation Security Division is responsible for safeguarding domestic and international civil aviation against acts of unlawful interference through the establishment of standards, recommended practices and guidelines, and their enforcement as required as guided by the ICAO Annex 17 as well as DOC 8973, Civil Aviation Act [CAA] 1969 and Civil Aviation Security Regulation (CASR).
