The Legal Advisor Unit was set up in April 2003 with one L48 legal advisor assigned to this Department. In 2007, an additional two L41 posts were approved for this unit. The officers are on placement transfer from Attorney General’s office.
This unit’s function is to advise CAAM on legal matters that are associated with the functionality of the department.
Interpretation of Law
To assist CAAM in interpreting relevant laws which are applicable in carrying out CAAM’s role in the aviation industry.
To advise CAAM on legal matters referred from time to time.
To draft or revise the legal documents such as notices, directives, contracts, agreements and memorandum of understanding to protect the interests of the Department.
Drafting of Laws and Regulations
To assist CAAM in drafting new laws/regulations or amendments to laws/regulations.
